Yoshinoya (Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan)
The last time I had a Yoshinoya beef bowl was when I was still working in Hong Kong, that was at least 15 years ago. It was one of my go to dishes there when I am craving for beef, after a decade and a half does it still give me the same desire to have one?
Here in Japan Yoshinoya is everywhere and the first one I saw was on Shin-Ōkubo Station on our first day in Tokyo, we still had our luggage when we saw this place but I never bothered, I was hungry and never had tried this for a very long time.
The place was quite huge for Tokyo standards, there were bar stools and several tables, there was even ample space for our large luggage on our back.
Menu was quite different to what I was used to in Hong Kong before but what’s important is that they still have the usual beef bowl. I immediately ordered two large beef bowl (¥840.00) for me and my daughter.
And the wife grabbed the one with fish (¥580.00).
Both were served with miso soup but the large beef bowl came with the usual cabbage salad
On the first bite, I brought me back a lot of Hong Kong memories and it still give me the same comforting effect like it used to. It was still the same old beef bowl, good taste and with the size we ordered it was very filling.
