The Khan Mongolian BBQ Buffet Restaurant (North Shore City, New Zealand)

I love Mongolian BBQs and was introduced to this dish many years ago back in the Philippines, I love the multiple combinations you can make just by mixing different meat, vegetable, carbs and sauces. No two dish can be the same specially when made by different people the possibilities are endless.

Most Mongolian BBQ are served buffet style where you pick anything can place in a bowl, it will then be handed over to the chef who cooks your dish. The Khan or what was called Gengy’s before was nothing different. We dined in here many times already and we loved every visit, if you haven’t been here give it a shot and this article will give you an idea on what to expect.

First thing to know is that the best way to visit here is on your birthday because it will be free for the celebrant but if you can’t wait for that date don’t worry dining here is still affordable and it will only cost you $24.95 and with that amount you have access to all ingredients, from meats like lamb, beef, pork, chicken, seafood; an array of vegetable; noodles; sauces, herbs and condiments.

It does not end there they also have some cooked food ready for you to devour while waiting for your Mongolian bowl to cook from different salads, array of fried stuff, noodles and soups to name some

And to top it all up they also serve freshly cooked pancakes with different toppings you can use, there are also different flavoured ice creams.

The bowl may seem to small but in just two full servings of those I am already sorted, of course with a bit of some cooked food and soup. What I first ordered was a sweet savoury style mixed meat and vegetables which is guaranteed a pleaser for second servings I usually opted for mixed seafood and vegetables made hot and spicy.

For that price this is all worth it with all the meat and veggies you can handle plus desserts. The place in Northcote is quite big as well and most our visits here was done without any reservations. It was clean, ingredients are regularly filled up and waiting for your food to cooked was a breeze (just time your rounds right and don’t go with the crowd). Overall it was a good experience and definitely will be back for more.
