Tombo Buffet (Auckland CBD, New Zealand)

We came here a couple of months ago with friends after looking for a good cheap place to have some decent buffet. Located in New Market in Auckland this place it not quite hard to find, there are ample off street parking but due to its location using the two huge parking lots near the place is a better option.

There are many buffet restaurant in Auckland, there are outstanding ones like Eight and Wild Fire but they are quite pricey, there are good ones like Fortuna and in my opinion this place, Tombo Buffet and it’s just priced right. Other places for me are quite normal and it’s so crowded it the ambiance of the place suffers so we usually skip them.

Tombo Buffet offers a wide range of dishes mostly Korean but with some Japanese as well. Placed on different sections they offer a hot cooked dishes like soups, stews, vegetables, meats, dumplings and noodles.

They also have noodle sushi, prawns, banchan, and fresh spring rolls

And some salad, noodles, hot pot and even desserts

There were 17 of us and definitely all of us enjoyed our dinner, all dishes are faultless definitely all of them were delicious. I had a lot of going back and forth the buffet area especially for the hot pot which we especially liked. Having said that we also loved cooked dishes like the pork belly and ribs, the fried chicken was also a hit especially with the kids. The sushi was also great though it is a bit smaller than normal we ended up getting more serving. To top it all up there are some fruits and light dessert to finish a great meal.

The price is quite reasonable when we visited there it was $30 per head but I heard now they are at $32 per head, still acceptable for me if you ask. For the variety, the quality of food and the cleanliness of the place it is all worth it. Definitely a place to recommend and a place I am happy to come back again and again.
