No.1 BBQ & Seafood Restaurant (North Shore City, New Zealand)
I always pass by this place for more than 6 years now and I think the restaurant had changed brands for around three times then a couple of months ago we decided to see what this place has to offer when we were looking for some new place to have some dinner.
It was quite a large place and there lots of diners when we dined in, it was not full packed but it was busy. There were some spare tables so we did not have to wait. As the menu arrived we were also served with some complimentary soup
and also asked for some spring rolls even before we opened the menu as we were really hungry.
When the spring rolls came in we then had decided on what to eat.
So we grabbed some Seafood Tofu Casserole ($25.00), Sweet and Sour Pork ($23.00) and certainly some loads of rice. Few minutes later freshly cooked dishes arrived, first was this seafood tofu casserole. It was loaded with tofu, cuttle fish, prawns as well as fish, I loved the flavours specially the tofu that has been soaked on the savoury sauce.
The Sweet and Sour Pork then came next, and like most of the good sweet and sour pork the meat was crispy outside while being juicy inside. Sauce was a perfect mix of sweet and sour flavours not overpowering each other.
We did liked it, I felt the food was prepared with less or no MSG compared to other Chinese restaurants, though I am not against the use of it some people are picky with them so those who have sensitive taste buds that don’t like this flavour enhancer would love this restaurant but don’t expect full bursting flavours like the usual Chinese takeaways.
Though the food was really good I think the price is a bit higher than others. So for the budget conscious I guess this is not a place you can eat on a daily basis.

The tofu casserole looks delicious Raymund…good choices…
Hope you are having a great week 🙂
Looks good. These Chinese restaurants do have some good stuff, as long as there is no msg overdose. I always tell them to add less or none at all when ordering.
BBQ & SEAFOOD?! Um, was this restaurant MADE FOR ME?!
