Salabat is a traditional ginger hot drink in the Philippines, usually served during the rainy season and it believed to have a lot of uses and cures which elaborate further below.


  • 4 cups water
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • juice from 1 lemon
  • 1 thumb sized young fresh ginger, thinly sliced


  1. Pour water in a kettle or a small pot add the ginger bring to a boil and gently simmer in low heat for 2 minutes.
  2. Pour liquid a teapot then mix in the honey and lemon juice.
  3. Serve while hot.
