Chop Chop Noodle House (Auckland, New Zealand)
Chop Chop Noodle House & Whiskey Bar is an Asian fusion restaurant located in Ponsonby Central, they serve noodle dishes where Eastern ingredients meets the West, like bacon and fried chicken in ramen noodle type of dishes. It’s an odd combination but trust me it works, think of it like Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris where the best of both worlds are combined to make a new concoction that can blow your mind.
They done just fuse dishes in here they also have an eclectic array of cocktails that you can only think in your dreams but we will not be focusing on those today, this article is more about their wonderful food offerings.
This was my third attempt in trying to dine in here, the last two times happened during peak times of dinner and lunch hence we gave up on waiting, third time was lucky. We came in here late lunch, somewhere around 1:30 PM so there are less people and we have the luxury of choosing where to sit.
We chose the ones outside as the inner part of the restaurant was quite dark for me to take photos of the food. We were then greeted with a smile and a menu. The offerings were categorized as Noodle Bowls, Street Food, Add Ons and Sweets, prices are not expensive but not cheap as well, usually mains range from $14.00 to $25.00 while side dishes ranges from $10.00 to $18.00.
We then ordered a couple from each category so we had some buns and ramen.
The bun we had was the Chop chop pork bun ($10.00) where melt in your mouth pork and cucumber is dressed with yuzu miso served on a white fluffy steamed buns. This reminds me of the copycat Momofuku pork buns I made a while back without the sweet touch. It was good, I guess with melting pork served in a fluffy steamed bun you can’t go wrong with it.
Next on the order was this Twelve Hour Organic Beef Brisket topped with Crispy Shallots, Pickled Mustard Seed, Bacon, Shiitake made with Rye Noodles ($18.00). Again it reminded me of my Beef Brisket Noodle Soup I am not sure it this was really braised for 12 hours but the beef was fork tender even diners with dentures will easily enjoy this one. It’s flavourful and the additions of bacon gave it that extra edge. Yes bacon makes everything amazing 🙂
And for our final order we grabbed the fanciest of all ramens, the Cobra Kai Super Mega Ramen, just the name alone makes you think that this is the king of all ramens. So what is it? Basically its ramen made out of Rye noodles served with Crispy Fried Chicken, Pork Belly, Barbecue Pork, Kimchi and Mushrooms. That 3 in one combo of three great things, Fried Chicken, Pork Belly and Barbecue Pork, it’s like those combination rice in Chinese restaurants made even better!
The food was great, the servings was huge and definitely you will feel so satisfied after dining in here, their dishes is a wonderful combination of what a comfort meal is at the same time a secret indulgence that you just want to have when you need a good mood boost. Definitely a place to be back, it a good place to dine in when you are hungry and have a big appetite or even when you are hungover as I guess the dishes here their best cure.

I don’t think I’ve ever had rye noodles in ramen. I need to get out more. To this place! It sounds great — thanks.
Never have I ever tried a noodle house considering I cannot eat noodles, but back when I could – I should have!
I did go to Ponsonby when I was in Auckland but I did not notice any shop there by this name. I love noodles!
