Alfredo’s Italian Pizzeria (North Shore City, New Zealand)

Tucked in a quiet corner in Beach Road on the North Shore is this Italian Pizzeria & Restaurant called Alfredo’s. It is a small place which if I can remember sits roughly 20 to 25 people. Nevertheless, they offer a wide variety of pizza and pasta that you usually find in an Italian restaurant.

Pizzas are handmade but not cooked in a traditional stone oven but reasonably on a commercial type. Sizes are not that huge and good for one serving. We started with some garlic pizza bread ($6.00), I like this basic pizza hence if there is a chance to have them in a restaurant I get one.

Then we tried some of the Hawaiian Pizza – Tomato, Cheese, Ham and Pineapple ($16.00), as my daughter loves this flavour.

Then the Chicken Pizza – Tomato, Cheese, Chicken, Mushroom, Onion, Capsicum, Spices ($16.00) for a change as we always for the prosciutto or pepperoni versions.

And their special the Alfredos Special – Tomato, Cheese, Mushroom, Onion, Ham, Prawns, Salami & Capsicum ($16.00) which is loaded with everything sold in a similar price at the other pizza.

While having this we were given a complimentary Italian Salad ($9.00)

Then we had our Spaghetti Meatballs ($19.00).

So what’s the verdict?

Well if we will be comparing it with other pizza places like Toto’s, Sal’s or even Farina it will be like comparing Toyota with a Bentley, it’s not an even match as they are of different league. Having said the food was not bad at all, definitely better then fast food pizzas. The pizza does not skim on any ingredients at all and if you want bang for your buck get the Alfredos Special, it’s loaded with lots of toppings. About the pasta I am not sure if the noodles are handmade and fresh but it feels like a dried ones, so don’t expect a similar noodle texture you find in good Italian restaurants, the sauce was good and well-seasoned.

Overall the food was nice and the two owners were quite accommodating and friendly, if you’re looking to snack on some pizza casually then this is a good place to be.
