Ramen Takara Japanese Noodle House (North Shore City, New Zealand)

Last week we featured Tanpopo Ramen this time we will have some ramen again but in Ramen Takara Japanese Noodle House. There are two branches for this ramen place but we tried the Brown Bay Branch this time. We dined in here dinner time and on a weekday, having said that it does not mean there are few people dining at the place, in fact it was the opposite hence we were seated outside luckily there were blasting heaters on the ceiling and a thick plastic cover to protect us from the cold beach breeze.

After being seated we ordered immediately, luckily during the day we visited they have a special on their Hot and Spicy Karaage Chicken served with salad, mayo and lemon, originally is priced at $12.00 for 6 pcs but at that time it was only offered by our waiter for $10.00. This came quick and freshly cooked, and like any fried chicken this cannot be faulted, its crispy, it’s delicious perfect with an ice cold Asahi beer.

Later on the main orders arrived first was the Chashu Ramen ($14.00), noodles in original soy base served with chashu pork, egg, bok choy, spring onion and bamboo shoots. This was good and meaty, there were lots of thick chashu pork slices on my order I feel they dump whole load of it. Very filling and the broth was very tasty.

Another order was Teriyaki Chicken Don ($14.00) which is basically teriyaki chicken on steamed rice served with salad, mayo and sesame. This was equally as awesome and my daughter loved it. Overall the experience was great, staff was friendly the food was amazing. We even forgot how cold it was outside as we enjoy the dishes we ordered. Definitely will go back here but on their other branch and try their other specialties.
