Circus Circus (Auckland, New Zealand)

One early morning while having our joy ride looking for somewhere to have breakfast we discovered this restaurant Circus Circus in the corner of Mt Eden Rd and Ngauruhoe St . There were lots of cafes in this area but this place caught our attention the most as it was packed with lots of people. The moment we saw this we never thought twice we just looked for a parking space.

One early morning while having our joy ride looking for somewhere to have breakfast we discovered this circus themed restaurant in the corner of Mt Eden Rd and Ngauruhoe St . There were lots of cafes in this area but this place caught our attention the most as it was packed with lots of people. The moment we saw this we never thought twice we just looked for a parking space.

Upon entering the premises we noticed it was so lively because of the theme as well as the amount of diners inside early that morning. Luckily there’s a family finishing so we don’t have to wait for long for us to be seated.

Once seated we were given the menus

and we ordered some drinks and breakfast. My daughter had some mocha frappe.

And me and my wife got some cappuccino.

It was a torture waiting for the breakfast because we were seated just beside the kitchen where we can smell the bacon cooking and we are hungry. Minutes later our orders arrived.

Daughter got some home-made waffles ($14.90) served with grilled bananas, streaky bacon and maple syrup, she loved this so much she stopped talking once it was served, silently devouring her brekkie. What I noticed is that thy grilled the bananas with skin on, the first time I saw this preparation, looks cool and definitely serves its purpose as it will hold the cooked bananas firmly.

Then my wife’s order came the Mango Chicken Salad ($19.90), it’s an Asian style salad with roasted chicken breast, mung bean sprouts, green onions, sesame and wonton crisps. She also loved it and let me try it, I love the combination of flavours here, the sweet and sour mango goes really will with sesame, chicken and crisp salad leaves. The wonton crisps give it an extra texture.

Now for my order, it was the Big Top breakfast ($19.90), it consists of two poached eggs, streaky bacon, lamb and rosemary sausages, baked beans, field mushrooms, hash browns and ciabatta. It was a very satisfying breakfast, I love the baked beans which I guess is home made as well, the sausages are amazing as well. My tummy is very happy after this.

We really loved this place, it might look chaotic outside due to the amount of customers it grabs but it’s an organize chaos, inside everything was in order. The food was great, the ambiance was different from other usual cafes in Auckland. Definitely keen to try other things they offer the next time around.

Ooooo….I miss places like this. Had my fill of those when I was in Auckland a couple of years ago. Really enjoyed everything so much. Loved all the Big Breakfasts I had. Wowwww!!!! Very pricey if we convert to our currency. *faints*

  4. Circus is right in my neighbourhood. I have to say I haven’t had good experiences with their meals here in the past but it’s been over 5 years since my last visit and maybe they have upped their game.

What a fabulous place! I’ll take the Home made Hashbrowns with smoked salmon.
