Laderach (Zurich, Switzerland)
If your looking for some odd flavoured chocolates in Zurich, Switzerland then try Laderach, they have heaps of them and they all tasted amazing.
If you are over mainstream chocolates like Lindt, Toblerone and Frey then you should try Laderach for a change. This was not part of our vacation plans and just saw this chocolate shop in Hauptbahnhof  in Zurich while looking for a Lightning to USB cable for an iPhone, I was so interested in the flavours that they offer so we gave it a shot.
They offer different chocolates from Choco Bijoux, Individual selection Collections, Confectionery packets, Mini Mousses, Laderach Créations and Individual Pralines. What attracted me though is this Frisch Schoggi (Fresh Chocolates) displayed in large slabs which are cracked / cut on order. The selection of unusual flavours like Corn Flakes, Chilli Lime, Cranberry, 70% Cabruca Brasil, Pepper Strawberry, Mixed Fruit, Honey Milk, Blackberry Dark Chocolate, Orange Almond and Raspberry Blackberry is more than enough as a marketing for me.
There are much more flavours than what I indicated above and I can remember we almost tasted all of them. They usually charge by weight so you can easily try everything in small portion. The most striking and expected flavour was the Chilli Lime and Pepper Strawberry, the hot pepper and/or chilli is surprisingly good when paired with chocolates, while not all kids will love this the adult palate will be pleasured with the contrasting flavours it offers.
My daughter took the colourful and pink coloured ones like the Confetti, Cranberry, Mixed Fruit and Raspberry Blackberry and most of them reminds me of the New Zealand Whittaker’s which is loaded with nuts, these Laderach confection is just loaded with fruits. She also got the Rocher as we love our Ferrero’s.
As for the chocolate, typical to Swiss chocolates it is smooth and creamy, the dark chocolates are flavour intense, really good and it’s not your average chocolate. For the price, I really can’t remember now but it was not cheap (anyways nothing is cheap in Switzerland) but it’s all worth the try.
