Ingredients
Scale
Cake pops
- 9 X 3 chocolate cake or vanilla cake
- Chocolate frosting (for chocolate cake)/ butter cream cheese frosting (for vanilla cake)
- 40–45 Lollipop sticks
- 125g White or dark Chocolate melts
- Sprinkles
- Marshmallows
- 1 tbsp Shortening (optional)
- Styrofoam
Butter Cream Cheese frosting
- 250g cream cheese
- 75g unsalted butter
- 2 tbsp confectioners sugar
Chocolate frosting
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup confectioners sugar
- 100 g unsalted butter, softened
- 4 tbsp milk, room temp
- 1 tsp vanilla
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, crumble the entire cake by hands.
- Add the frosting to the crumbled cake and mix it evenly.
- Shape the moistened cake into a ball until it makes about 45 balls depending on size. Line the balls in a baking sheet apart from each other.
- Meanwhile, melt chocolate in a heatproof bowl set over (but not touching) simmering water. Add shortening only if you prefer to lighten up a bit of the thickened chocolate.
- Dip each of the lollipop stick into the melted chocolate and glue in the centre of each cake balls. With the sticks upside-down on each cake balls, keep in the fridge for about 5-10 mins to hardened the glue and keep the lollipop sticks upright.
- Coat each of the cake pops evenly with the melted chocolate. (Note: If the melted chocolate begins to hardened and get lumpy, you can always repeat step 4). Put sprinkles on top or decorate as desired before the coat dries completely.
- Place the cake pops into the Styrofoam not touching each other.
