Thai Beef Salad

Thai Beef Salad

I remember a saying in Asia that we eat a course meal the other way around as we eat the salad last rather than in the beginning.  This is somehow true as most of the Asian salads are either sweet or have a strong flavor which makes it a good accompaniment to the mains or cleanse the palate.  Now this salad is a different approach to the usual green salads, a salad with a kick of hot pepper with the freshness of chilli lime dressing, it can be a good starter, appetizer or even mains just add more beef.

200g Beef, sliced thinly
1 birds eye chilli, chopped
1 tsp sesame oil
1 tbsp soy sauce
3 handful mesclun
1 red onion, chopped
1 red capsicum, sliced
1 carrot, thinly sliced
1 handful crispy noodles,
3 tbsp coriander, chopped
4 tbsp peanuts, chopped
1/4 cup chilli lime dressing

  1. In a bowl marinate beef in chilli, sesame oil and soy sauce.  Set aside for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Now on a grilling pan, add oil and grill beef pieces.   Once the bottom side is brown, turn over and do the same.  Set aside.
  3. Mix all of the remaining ingredients together with the beef and apart from the chilli lime dressing.
  4. Place in salad plate and drizzle with chilli lime dressing.
