Tiki Terrace (Lahaina, Hawaii)
This so far is the best dinner I had on the island and we got really pampered when the hotel hosted this amazing dinner at Tiki Terrace. We started quite early, I think we all sat down around 5:30PM so we started to get some refreshing cocktails like this daquiri style berry drink.
I think even before the dinner we drank at least a couple of this and while sipping thought it we got invited on stage to learn and present some Hawaiian dancing. Luckily there were few guests dining at that moment otherwise they would leave when they see our performance. The cocktails sort of helped in removing the shyness within us so we just rocked the Hukilau Dance, it was finished until we knew it and we had a lot of fun.
As we went back to our tables the starters were ready and it consist of two types of bruschetta, one made with crab and another one with tomatoes, there were also some fried calamari and fried shrimps plus some sashimi. The starter alone is just enough for a full dinner. It was so good specially that sashimi, it was so fresh.
Salad then came in next, this time it was light which good because if a heavy salad was served then there is no possibility I can fit in the mains and dessert. The salad was a simple Mixed Greens Fresh Island veggies tossed with a House made sesame yuzu soy dressing. The dressing was addictive, I was dipping my fingers on the small dressing bowl that came with it, so full of umami.
Then the main started to pour in, before our dance session we were asked what we want from the menu, there were amazing steak choices but I am in Hawaii so seafood is the most appropriate dish to have hence I ordered their Seafood Platter. This was heaven in a plate basically a seafood selection of lobster, fish, scallops and prawns served with mushrooms, bok choy and purple sweet potatoes on a coconut cream sauce. The best seafood dish I had so far, the flavours was just phenomenal, one bite you will definitely feel it’s a proper island dish.
A good meal will not finish without a great dessert hence we got offered not just one but four different desserts to devour. Tiramisu, Haupia and a selection of Mini Macadamia Nut, Banana, Strawberry & Taro Sweet Potato Cream Pies. Honestly, I was having a hard time by this time, I don’t know where to put all of this so I just took a small bite of each just to try, I felt like a glutton but this only happen once in a while so I indulged.
While having all of these we were having some Tropical Itch Drink where it is served in a big long glass which I think is more than 500 mls, we had a lot of this, I guess I had more than 6 of it and we knew it because I had at least 6 back scratchers in front of me.
We had a lot of fun, this is what Hawaiian Island life is! Eat, Drink, Relax and be Merry on a warm tropical breeze listening to ukulele playing at the background while watching Hawaiian locals dancing the Hukialu.
