National Chicken Wing Day
Yes there are specific food days for each of your favourite dish and it happens to be one of those days today the National Chicken Wing Day. Celebrated annually on July 29 this day is to commemorate the humble chicken wing, whether it’s infused with Asian flavours or Western, whether is fried, baked or grilled.
So when and where did this all started? Where else but in America! More specifically in Buffalo, New York where the Buffalo wings started. Having said that this special date would not have started without the Buffalo wings and because of its popularity. Due to this and the peoples love for it, the City of Buffalo declared July 29, 1977 as the Chicken Wing Day, on that day they also announced that “thousands of pounds of chicken wings are consumed by Buffalonians in restaurants and taverns throughout the city each week.”
Since that day yearly it was an event and to observe that I will post a list of all the Chicken wing recipes that we had posted here at Ang Sarap.
One of my first inventions where tender chicken wings are coated with some maple syrup and drizzles with bacon oil and crispy bacon, a perfect combination of sweet and salty flavours.
This list will not be complete without this recipe that made it all happen, this deep fried chicken wings drenched in a hot and spicy butter sauce is just a perfect pair with an ice cold Budweiser.
This recipe is perfect for kids hence in parties back home this was nearly a staple, it’s your normal fried chicken wings but the meat is pushed to the top making the bones stick out and used as a handle while eating them. Such a clever idea on who invented this one.
For those who love things spicy then this is a good option for you other that the Buffalo wings.
Another Asian using a Western ingredient, the Coco Cola. Yes the Chinese invented this dish and it is surprisingly delicious.
I think this one is a classic, with a little bit of honey and a little bit of soy sauce any chicken wing will rejoice.
Egg whites, baking soda and salt! Yes those three ingredients can make a beautiful wing recipe. Did I mention the great dip that it accompanied with?
When I first saw this as a street food in Malaysia it was an OCD’s dream. Chicken wings is layered perfectly in their skewers while roasting. The aroma as you walk is amazing so you will never pass by without grabbing some of this.
You usual fried chicken wing with a Cheese pungent parmesan twist
The only steamed chicken wing of the list, this one is combined with Chinese sausage and shiitake mushrooms making it earthy sweet savoury concoction that asks for rice on the side.
Garlic lovers rejoice, there is something for you in this list, with soy sauce and loads of garlic and a hint of sweetness what can go wrong with it.
