The White Lady (Auckland CBD)

Big Boys Toys 13

Last week we visited Big Boys Toys here in Auckland, it was my first time to this event so I have little idea on what this show have to offer. All I know is that there are lots of fancy cars, gadgets and some stunt shows.

We went there first thing in the morning, I know these events tend to be full so we did it early that day. First show is also at 11:00 am so it’s just the perfect time to visit. As we arrive we already saw a long queue outside as we park but luckily after parking they were all gone, thanks to an efficient entry process.

First things you see are some construction machineries where pros battle it out in some precision digger events, there also some small versions where kids can try it on their own.

There were more stuff outside but as the show time nears by we started to reserve covered seats for the car and bike shows. We got a really good spot located in the middle of everything, this gives me the best angle to take good photos.

First event was some BMX Stunts

Then some car display

As well as some stunts

then some amazing FMX action where they do some crazy stunts

The show lasted for an hour so it’s the perfect time to have lunch, there were lots of food trucks on premises so it was not that hard to get food, prices are also OK unlike other places where they ramp up the prices on times of events.

There were at least more than a dozen choices from German Sausages, Donuts, Hot Dogs and Burgers but for us it was not a hard choice as we sew one of the food trucks we wanted to try for a long time, the White Lady.

This food truck is a popular sight in Auckland CBD located in Commerce St, every time we see this before we already had either lunch or dinner so we never had a chance to try it until now. Menu was quite different on the Commerce St so they inform the diners that they don’t sell the usual one they serve but were after the burgers so were good with it.

We tried three of their burgers, the Bacon Burger ($13.00), Hawaiian Burger ($10.00) and the Steak Burger ($13.00), they were quite busy that day but we still managed to get our orders in about 15 minutes or less.

The burgers look huge because they are huge, having said that the burgers is quite easy to consume as the buns are quite soft and light. They all tasted great, I love how the burgers were seasoned except for the steak which was slightly under seasoned but cooked to perfection.

I love the burgers, it’s not that oily and you won’t feel you had too much even it was large in size, thanks to those perfect buns it balanced out everything. This means we can easily walk around not having to carry a big stomach full of burger.

Right after lunch we then go inside the covered area to enjoy the sexy cars and bikes like this Lamborghini’s.

the new Aston Martin of James Bond, the one he used in Spectre.

then some Hybrid Power from the Porsche 918 Spider.

some McLarens

and more importantly the DeLorean

There were also tons of bikes on display from Harley and Indian to name some.

It was quite a huge place, even though I wanted to share every photo here I will just stick to the most significant ones.

After this car section there were also other sections for electronics

some free booze tasting

and even Crossfit where men and women compete with each other by doing several repetitions of weight lifting.

It was quite a full on day and we were almost leaving until we saw one more hall filled with pimped out cars just before the exit.

The event was great, not just for guys but even women liked it. Its summer season now here so there will be many events like this, like next week watch this space as I will be going to another one but it’s more of a Food related event called Taste of Auckland.

  1. Interesting post, Raymund. I’ve never tried the White Lady despite being based in Auckland! Hope to see you over at Carole’s Chatter with some chicken dishes for Food on Friday. Cheers
