On ifood.tv, you can browse their enormous collection of over 150, 000 recipes (including of course, the Thai recipes) and even watch over 25,000 cooking videos.

What to Expect

Upon opening the app, you’ll be presented choices of Thai recipes you would want to learn in 3 categories, depending on your preference- Dish, Interest and Ingredients. Once you’ve selected one of the options, you can then easily access the recipe of your choice. Inclusive of it of course are the ingredients you need and the step-by-step procedure of how to cook your dish. There’s also a timer set in the upper right corner. The “Search” option on the other hand, is where you can look further the available Thai recipe categories in the app such as Course, Cuisine, Healthy and among others, which also includes cooking videos that you can set on or off. Another impressive feature of the app is the “My Diary” section, where you can upload and take a photo of the Thai dish you’ve just made. Other than that, you can also share photos of your Thai dish via Facebook and Twitter.

This app can help you learn about cooking traditions and guarantees you to satisfy your culinary curiosity with its easy-to-follow recipes and video recipes. What I find really interesting about this app is its sharing features where you can browse through the photos of the food you’ve cooked and share it even to others via social networking sites.

2. Thai Recipes – Cooking Made Easy

Do you feel like making a steaming bowl of Tom Yum Gung? How about a flavorful Gang Som Pak Ruam or a creamy Thai sweet potato soup to warm you? But just in case the scorching sun peaks out, why don’t you try their famous Chicken Pad Thai noodles?

Starve no more, it’s all right here in the app by Conor Apps!

What to Expect

The app has a very simple user interface where you can choose from 49 different recipes of palatable Thai foods from appetizers, main dishes, desserts & starters.

What to Like

Aside from its simple design, the app provides you easy access to the recipes of Thai dishes. What’s quite disappointing though is that it doesn’t have enough features for you to enjoy. However, according to the developers, they will update the app.

3. Thai Food & Recipes

This app made by Quantis,Inc. provides you over 500 recipes to help you cook Thai cuisines such as curries, grilled,  seafood, desserts and a lot more. It also lets you explore an array of recipe videos and tons of food contents regarding the Thai foods.

  • Over 500 recipe videos (via YouTube)
  • Thai food wiki library
  • Searches tweets related to Thai food
  • Daily updated contents

What to Like

The app has a nicely presented interface and has much of the Thai recipes you probably needed. My only gripe though is that you should purchase this app at a whopping price of $1.99 and yet you can’t have a full access of it unless you are connected to the internet.

4. Thai Cookbook by TAT

Master your favorite Thai grubs in your own kitchen with this cool and interactive cookbook application by McCann Worldgroup Thailand. Learn how to cook different Thai foods as easy as pie.

What to Expect

The app contains 16 Thai recipes, all certified by the National Food Institute of Thailand. The homepage gives you a list of the different dishes and clicking on the pictures brings you to a page with a list of the ingredients and procedures for cooking. There is also a video provided for each of the recipes where you can view the step-by-step instructions.

What to Like

Although the recipes are only limited, the recipes along with its appetizing pictures are helpful for people who would want to try out the dishes. The tutorial video has also English subtitles which makes it easier to understand especially for those who aren’t that familiar with the Thai language.

5. iThaiCookBook

Like the other apps on the list, this app by IT-CAT CO.,LTD also teaches you how to cook authentic Thai dishes.

What to Expect

The app simply features 5 popular Thai recipes which includes:
– Tom Yum Goong (Spicy Soup with Prawn and Lemongrass)
– Kaeng Phed Ped Yang (Thai Red Curry Paste with Roasted Duck)
– Kaeng Khew Whan Kai (Thai Green Curry Paste with Chicken)
– Pad Thai Goong Sod (Thai Noodles with Prawn)
– Gai Phat Met Mamuang Himmaphan (Stir- Fried Chicken with Cashew Nuts)

What to Like

With this app, you can change the language between Thai and English. Aside from the recipes, this app has a shopping list for each dish. However, the recipes provided aren’t comprehensive plus there are only a plenty of illustrations of the recipes.

With this app review, it’s apparent that you no longer have to travel to the Southeast Asian kingdom just to have a taste of the Thai specialties. Cooking the recipes are now made easy with these iOS apps. All you have to do is move to your kitchen, download an app and start cooking. Voila!  Nothing beats sinking your teeth into the best Thai meal of your life that you prepare yourself.
